Directions: 

I ask students "if you continue to use your time during _______ subject, will you become a better _______ (reader, writer, etc)? Students answer with a thumbs up or thumbs to the side. If someone answers with a thumbs to the side, I will ask, "Next time we have this learning opportunity, what will you need to do differently to become a better learner?"
