Songs are nominated by participants and voted on to accompany topics or content.
Participants are given the topic or content area. Individually or in small groups, they nominate a theme song for the topic. They link to it on a collabortive webspace or submit it using Google Forms or Socrative, an online response system.
The rest of the group votes on the song using Socrative, Google forms, or another polling tool.
Purchase and play the song as the intro to that topic or unit.
Alternative for students: Given the topics designated for coverage each day in class, students nominate a song and write a short paper explaining why and how the song relates to that topic. Teachers review the nominations and select a song; the student who nominated the song gets a small number of bonus points.
