Use this strategy to energize a room or to help participants make a quick connection with others in the group.
Directions:

Have participants pair up with someone else quickly. Saying “make eye contact with someone across the room and pair up” is one way to have participants find partners.

Participants have 15 seconds to come up with a secret handshake with their partner.

Direct participants to find a new partner.

Participants have 15 seconds to come up with a dance move with their partner.

Direct participants to find a new partner.

Participants have 15 seconds to come up with a phrase or saying that will help them through a tough time.

Direct participants to find their original partner and do their secret handshake. Direct participants to rotate through their other partners.

After everyone returns to their original seat, remind participants how important it is to have a network of support and lift each other up. Offer participants the opportunity to send a positive and uplifting message to a colleague who isn’t in the room.
