Oregon EdTech Professional Development Cadre
Please take a few moments to introduce yourself to the group. Who are you? How long have you been in Cadre? Where do you work and what is your role? What do you appreciate most about digital learning and/or educational technology?
I'm Vanessa Clark and this will be my second full year in Cadre. I work at the Oregon Department of Education as a Program Analyst for Digital Innovations. The main projects that I work on are the Oregon Educator Network (this site!), the Canvas LMS, and Open Educational Resources. One of the things I appreciate most about digital learning is that it provides opportunities for students to learn how to be makers and creators in the modern day world.
Happy 17-18 School Year Everyone!

Since we rolled out G-Suite in our district last year K-12, I’ve been excited to help with the basic G-suite training, Snapverter and Read & Write. I’m really looking forward to improving my skill level and learning from others.
Hi, I’ve been an educator since 1995. This is my first year out of a school building, either as a teacher or administrator. I am currently working with Professional Development, Instructional Technology, and Student Data, as well as being the District Test Coordinator, and Tier 1 helpdesk for several of the programs we use in the Silver Falls School District.
My name is Christina VanNice and I am an instructional coach in the Hermiston School District. This will be my first year on the Ed Tech Cadre. My teaching experience is as a special education teacher and a middle school language arts teacher. As a teacher, I found that I could make my job easier and also enhance the learning of my students through technology– a win-win.
Now as a coach, my goal is to support teachers in implementing technology with their students. Due to my background in special education, I also have a particular interest in assistive technology that can enhance learning for student with disabilities who might face challenges that a typical student does not.
I look forward to learning from all of you throughout the year!
Hi guys! This will be my 5th year combined on the cadre. I was a member as a teacher in Baker School District for 3 years, left for Idaho for 5 and am now back for my 2nd year as a member of the Sherwood School District. My current role is working on the Teaching and Learning Team while also leading the technology department in our district. I am learning from other in the IT crowd that my role is a “bridge” between the IT and T&L worlds. I look forward to further networking with this cadre, especially learning how to better serve our teachers and build capacity throughout our district. See you all soon!

I have taught in Warrenton and Tillamook. I have also taught 3rd, 5th, and 6th grades. This is my first year on the Cadre and I am very excited to be a part of this group. I am very comfortable with technology and so a lot of people in my building come to ask me for help or advice. I have made movies in my classroom, along with getting a grant for Bloxels. This allows students to design and create their own video games. I appreciate technology because of the opportunities it provides my students to interact and create.
I missed participating in the cadre last year and am looking forward to reconnecting this school year. I’m a former elementary (3-5) classroom teacher now working for Clarity Innovations, a “small”ish edtech company based in Portland. I’m looking forward to continuing to learn with you all! -Tod

In my role, I am motivated by sharing ways to innovate and support student learning with other teachers. As a coach, I get to spend my days helping teachers thoughtfully and intentionally plan lessons and activities that engage and build relevancy for their students.
I firmly believe we are witnessing how education is changing, and I am excited to be a part of that movement. :)

I can engage students in ways that I could not before and provide a means for all students to be successful. I am looking forward to all of the new things I will learn from this Cadre this year!

My name is Whitney Harvey, and I am new to Cadre this year. I am a 1:1 Instructional Technology Coach at Twality Middle School in Tigard-Tualatin School District. My family and I just moved up to OR this summer from sunny San Diego. Hello! This is my second year as an Instructional Technology TOSA for Greater Albany Public Schools, but my first year as part of the Cadre. Prior to this position, I was a MS Science teacher for 16 years and continue some of this work as a (very) part-time MS Science TOSA.
I am excited to collaborate and learn with others and hope to bring back new ideas for inspiring the teachers that we support.

I am also a Seesaw and Book Creator ambassador, ISTE EdTekHub blogger, and the creator of the Oregon Ed Chat (#OrEdChat) on Twitter. I am a wife and mother of two little busy ones! I play the violin on the worship team at my church and go to Duck football games in my spare time. EdTech has forever changed the way I teach. It has allowed me to differentiate in ways I have never been able to before. I can now streamline my work and spend more time working with students 1:1 or in small groups. I have also developed an incredible PLN which has encouraged and supported me over the years.
I’m Allan Chinn, principal at Howard Elementary School in Eugene, OR. This is my first year on the Cadre. I most appreciate how technology allows for learning that would have earlier been impossible (thinking of SAMR and particularly Modification and Redefinition).
