Marion County Health and Human Services, Willamette ESD, and Yamhill County Public Health are pleased to partner in bringing the PAX Good Behavior Game to our community.
The PAX Good Behavior Game is designated as an evidence based program by the federal government’s Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Implemented in early childhood grades by the teacher, the PAX Good Behavior Game facilitates effective classroom management through a series of simple and fun techniques.
PAX is a method that develops students ability to “flip on” their internal focus switch, required for any learning. It teaches students how to work toward valued goals, and prepares them to cooperate with each other to reach those goals. Students learn how to self-regulate during both learning and fun. Moreover, PAX GBG protects students against lifetime mental, emotional, behavioral, and related physical illnesses. PAX GBG significantly improves multiple measures of academic success such as reading test scores, high-school graduation, and university entry.
PAX Good Behavior Game can be implemented by teachers, classroom aides, media managers, administrators, mental health professional and parent champions that work with children and youth–all the way from preschool to middle school.
