This week-long professional development program is being offered tuition-free to Oregon teachers. Topics include: identifying the struggles women overcame to gain the right to vote, earn better wages and access education; exploring the 19th century movement for women’s suffrage through events that happened in Seneca Falls, New York, in the late 1840s; examining the impact of the amendment’s passage on the American political system; understanding the implications that the 19th Amendment has on today’s society; a day trip to New Jersey to visit Paulsdale, a National Historic Landmark and the birthplace of Alice Paul, suffragist and equal rights activist.
