Personal bio
For the last three school years, I have worked as an Instructional Technology TOSA (Teacher on Special Assignment) for the Greater Albany Public Schools in Albany, OR. I work at the district level to support teachers in the use of technology in their instruction, with the goal of increasing student achievement.
Previously, I worked for ten years as a math teacher in middle school and taught 6th, 7th and 8th graders. Early in my career, I was asked to fill in as a Science teacher and P.E. teacher. Additionally, I served as my building technology specialist and worked hard to gather and implement technology in my classroom.
I grew up in Oregon, mainly in the Portland area and attended my freshman year of high school at Oregon City High School. That summer my Dad married and I moved to Lake Oswego, OR to finish my high school career. From there, I earned a full athletic scholarship to Oregon State University to play football. While at OSU I received two Bachelor’s degrees, one in Education and the other in Liberal Studies.
My family and I have been living in Corvallis since I moved here for school in 1999. I have a wife Carolyn, a daughter named Everly and a son named Luke. In my spare time, I like to get outdoors. Most often as a family we hike the trails surrounding our home in Corvallis. There are quite a few family-friendly hiking options and plenty of water holes for our dog.
We try to go white water rafting every summer. It is our goal to take at least one trip down the wild and scenic portion of the Rogue River annually. If rafting is not up to par or we are too busy wrangling our two children, we head for the central Oregon town of Sisters, Oregon. There are many lakes, creeks, hikes, mountains and other outdoor adventures.
