Alternative compensation has taken on a whole new look, moving away from a focus on student test scores to realizing that there are many other components of being an effective educator. This is their second in a series on the Chalkboard blog that references work being done in Portland, Maine public schools where a new salary structure, the Professional Learning Based Salary Scale recognizes educators who embrace professional lifelong learning.
